A comprehensive dentistry exam is an important part of your dental upkeep and is more than just a teeth cleaning. The exam lets us get to know our patients through patient interviews, examination, x-rays, and cleaning. This allows us to identify if problems exist, and how to fix them so they never come back.
Our comprehensive exams start with a patient interview to discuss your dental and medical history, any medications you are currently taking, your current dental concerns, your overall dental health and your short and long term goals. We will also discuss and assess your oral hygiene habits, risk factors and diet to help us understand your overall dental health.
TMD, or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, can cause severe pain in your jaw, ear, or sides of your face, neck or even shoulders. We check for possible TMB by doing a physical examination to apply light pressure to the jaw to check for any soreness. We’ll also look in your mouth for any signs of TMJ like teeth grinding or clenching or alignment issues.
Oral Cancer Screenings are important in your long-term dental health goals. We will look inside the mouth for any signs of precancerous or cancerous conditions. This is a quick and noninvasive procedure.
The Oral Examination and Cleaning will begin with a complete check of any tooth decay that may be present, and checking any past dental work. We will then complete a bite evaluation to determine if your teeth properly fit together. Once the bite evaluation is complete we move onto cleaning your teeth and removing any stains.
We will then move on to clean the teeth.
