H2 Dental Root Canals In Glendale, AZ

The word root canal may have a visceral reaction for most people. Most people equate a root canal to being an extremely painful and agonizing procedure. Modern root canals are very similar to routine fillings and are extremely effective.

At Desert Valley Dentistry & Spa we have many options to make this routine procedure more comfortable for you, including different types of anesthesia.

A root canal procedure eliminates bacteria for the infected root canal of the tooth, helps prevent reinfection and helps to save the natural tooth.

Patients may need a root canal procedure if they have a cracked or broken tooth, suffer from genetic issues, or notice if your teeth are sensitive to hold or cold sensations. If you have severe tooth pain, swollen gums, decay or darkening of the gums or lingering sensitivity, you may need a root canal.

Inside your tooth is soft tissue, which is called pulp. This tissue contains nerves, tissue, and blood vessels which help grow the root of your tooth during development.

Your dentist begins the procedure after you are numb or comfortably sedated. The dentist makes an opening in the crown of the tooth, and small instruments are used to clean the pulp from the chamber and root canals of the tooth. After the space is cleaned the tooth is then filled with a rubber-like material and an adhesive cement to ensure complete sealing of the canals.

A temporary filling is placed over the tooth until your new crown is ready to be placed on your tooth permanently. You will return to the dentist after a short time to have your permanent crown placed on the tooth.
